it’s about time that commercial medical devices, like hearing aids, begin to adopt ai to improve effectiveness. chromatic is doing exactly that while in stealth. founded in 2021, the company has filed for dozens of patents and raised multiple rounds of funding to bring neural-network hearing aids, designed to separate speech from noise in real time, out of the lab and directly to patients.
after going through their list of patent filings, my understanding of chromatic’s product is that it’s an ear-worn device with on-board deep-neural-network (DNN) pipelines that denoise and spatially focus live audio at low latency (< 10ms), which improves speech intelligibility in chaotic settings.

chromatic operates within the global hearing aids market, which was valued at ~$7.96 billion in 2023 and growing at a cagr of 6.78% from 2024 to 2030. with ≥12 us patents issued from november 2023 – june 2025, chromatic is demonstrating a strong IP-moat for their products which is further supported by their $25 million fundraise.
