onto today’s topic: let’s go exploring 🗺️
we all peaked in our creativity, energy, imagination and wonder during our childhood. one of my favourite things to do in life is revitalizing that spirit.
it might seem cliché, but the world truly seems so much brighter and full of colour now that i allow myself to marvel at the beauty all around — no matter how big or small. it’s like the saturation dial has moved up several notches.
our work day at the tea farm in shizuoka ended early today, and i immediately suggested, “let’s go exploring.” 🔭 not let’s go for a walk. let’s explore like we did as kids, hunting for secret passages and skipping across rocks in a river.
we stumbled on what we hypothesized used to be someone’s home and were blown away by how magical the little trove was. it had clearly been abandoned for a while, with a bridge overgrown with bright green moss and matching staircases weaving down to a river.
we trekked forward and cheered each other on as we jumped from rock to rock, trying to avoid soaking our shoes in the rushing water (i failed). it felt like we were the only people in the world. there were no people in sight, except for the occasional car that zoomed by. 🚗
philip got the speaker going, and we continued walking, stopping to admire different flowers, river views, and shrines along the way. there was just something about our little expedition that had me stopping to think of the only words i could muster to describe what i was feeling: peak life.
childhood felt a lot like this, and days of “let’s go exploring” fills me with that same spirit.
