my packing necessities
keeping it minimal 🧳
i’m a pretty minimal packer. for a trip under a week, just my backpack will do as long as i carry my essentials. when i’m abroad for longer periods of time, of course i’ll brave a carry-on suitcase, but i prefer to make use of as little as necessary.
the essentials:
passport
wallet
headphones
case of chargers (lightning, usb-c, micro usb, magnetic laptop charger and universal adapter block if i’m going international)
laptop
kindle
phone
pajamas + 2-3 changes of clothes (i get pretty creative with combining these few pieces to put together new outfits)
undergarments + socks
toiletries bag (toothbrush + toothpaste, travel container has moisturizer + cleanser, any cosmetic stuff, deodorant, perfume)
ziploc bag of tylenol + iron pills + vitamin c pills + electrolytes
that’s everything. if space is tight, i tend to skip my water bottle because it’s pretty chunky. i’ve lucked out on towels being provided for most of my trips, or offered for super cheap, so i skip that too. finally, i just wear a nice stack of jewelry on my travel day to keep on or rotate slightly throughout my trip.
it all fits in my regular jansport backpack. i’ve saved a lot on checking bags and being able to book budget flights without the hidden carry-on fees too. :)
