my role model
happy mother's day 💗
i’m pretty anti-idolizing anyone. i’m also very particular when it comes to role models and identifying people i wholeheartedly look up to.
my mom will always be the first person i think of, though. she’s the most impressive person in the whole world to me, genuinely. there aren’t many people who can literally do it all while nurturing a caring heart of gold at the same time.
she managed to immigrate to canada from punjab with a full-ride master’s offer from the university of toronto, completed her degree in statistics with a teaching offer, declined it so she could take care of me as a baby, started a tutoring business out of our basement, expanded it to a commercial center bringing in an impressive income while raising two more kids simultaneously, cooked us healthy tasty meals even after an incredibly long day, and showed up to our most important days without fail.
she started her journey alone with just my dad in canada.
she has come further than i can ever even dream of persevering through. my dreams are an extension of hers because her hard work has made so much of my life possible, if not all.
i have no hesitation attributing every single one of my achievements to her. without my mom, i’d amount to nothing.
she’s my role model. through and through.
happy mother’s day - don’t forget to call your mom.
