my selfcare
what i do to care for myself 💆♀️
i’ve noticed a lot of “selfcare” is just basic health prioritization that has been rebranded into an effort beyond baseline. and honestly, with how little our personal health is built into daily life and western hustle, i can sympathize with it.
eating healthy is a chore, pursuing hobbies is a seemingly significant time commitment, and gym memberships aren’t cheap.
i don’t do much self-care beyond what i believe to be a standard baseline for someone who (somewhat) prioritizes health. i like to say i prioritize my health, but sometimes i’ll look back at my week and realize i didn’t really step up for my body. it’s an effort i’m continuously working towards.
i stick to a few habits → sleeping 7+ hours daily (even if it means rearranging my schedule the next day), reading something, calling someone, writing this blog, drinking 2L of water (i slack of majorly when i’m traveling), and exercising in some form (rollerblading, gym, sport, etc.)
skincare before sleeping is a must, and it’s a very basic routine (cleanser, moisturizer, spot treat with azelaic acid, lip mask)
i take iron + vitamin c pills and drink hot lemon ginger tea every other day
i don’t drink caffeine for the sake of feeling more awake or giving myself more energy (only for the taste of coffee, matcha, or other caffeinated drinks)
unfortunately i’m an ipad kid when i eat alone - i’ll indulge in a show/video while eating
i also care for myself by raising my threshold for joy regularly - i’ll give myself something to look forward to every month (often a trip or fun event)
i sign up for random free classes and events all the time (whether it’s aerial yoga, barre, cooking class, singing lesson, retail popups, or startup event)
i could take better care of myself. my biggest bucket of improvement is being more rigid with my habits.
how do you take care of yourself? looking for inspo/ideas.
